Vein of Galen
|
The vein of Galen (VG), also known as the great cerebral vein, is one of the large blood vessels in the skull draining the cerebrum (brain). It is prone to congenital defects, such as vein of Galen aneurysmal malformations (VGAM) and vein of Galen aneurysmal dilation (VGAD).
It is named after its discoverer, the Greek physician Galen.
