San Antonio Silver Stars
The San Antonio Silver Stars are a team in the Women's National Basketball Association. They play their home games in the SBC Center in San Antonio, Texas.
They moved to Texas in 2003. Before that they had been the Utah Starzz (possibly named after the old ABA team, the Utah Stars, ending in 'zz' after the area's other pro basketball team, the Utah Jazz). The Salt Lake City, Utah team had been in the WNBA since 1997, being one of the founding teams.

History
One of the eight original WNBA teams, the Utah Starzz never fully met the same success as their NBA counterpart, the Utah Jazz. They held the distinction of having the worst record in the WNBA in 1997 and were the first team to select in the 1998 WNBA Draft. With their selection, they picked 7'2" center Margo Dydek, who easily became the tallest player in WNBA history. Unfortunately, the pickup of Dydek did little to help their cause and they again finished near the bottom of the league in the 1998 season.
Despite having a solid nucleus of stars in Jennifer Azzi and Olympian and Utah native Natalie Williams, the Starzz never ranked among the WNBA elite. The lack of commercial success the franchise found in Utah resulted in a move to San Antonio, Texas and a change of name to the "San Antonio Silver Stars".
In 2003, the Silver Stars made their first major (and surprising) roster move when they traded star Natalie Williams along with Coretta Brown to the Indiana Fever in exchange for Sylvia Crawley and Gwen Jackson. In 2004, they fell in last place again, but did acquire all-star guard Shannon "Pee-Wee" Johnson.
