Hi there!

That was a pleasure to have your message. I used to live in Tehran for 7 years but now I'm back to my hometown, Tabriz, since last September. By the way, I occasionaly come to Tehran to visit friends and family. We sure can meet next time I vist Tehran. You'll surely be informed in advance. Meantime, that would be great if we arrange a cooperation on Iranian matters. You can contact me through

New List

Hi, I have set up a new list name's List of Iranian Americans.Please take a look.--Sina 21:36, 14 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Your contributions

Roozbeh, contrary to some odd contemporaries who currently keep on vandalising your talk page, I just would like to say that your contributions are great and appreciated. It is a sad situation when one simply wants to write good articles and unfortunately ones interests lie across various international faultlines... Cheer up and Khaste naboshid!" Free in URdu

I am not sure when you asked the question on the Urdu Wikipedia, but The "free", as in "freedom" meaning is usually "Azad" in Urdu: اذاد iFaqeer (Talk to me!) 22:48, Apr 18, 2005 (UTC)

Ali Shariati

Hello! I see that you changed "Hossein-e Ershad Religious Institute" to "Hosseinie-ye Ershad Religious Institute". I found three entries unrelated to Wiklipedia when I Googled the former, but none when I Googled the latter. I've reverted the edit for the moment, but if you could provide some reason for your change on the Talk page, we could discuss it. I note that you didn't even give an edit summary. Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 20:08, 3 May 2005 (UTC)

Well, I live in Iran, and it's pronounced the way I have written it. I have never heard it pronounced like "Hossein-e". Those articles are also probably using a wrong reference. It seems that "Hosseiniye" is at least on Google, so I am changing it to that. roozbeh 12:53, May 4, 2005 (UTC)
You seem to be confusing pronunciation with spelling. If you can find a website which uses your spelling (I found three that use the spelling originally in the article), then your change would be acceptable, but "I live in Iran" isn't enough (see Wikipedia:No original research). Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 16:54, 4 May 2005 (UTC)
Hey admin! These are two! Hossein is a name and Hosseinieh is a place! You have to know Persian to understand the difference. Thanks! --Sina 20:00, 4 May 2005 (UTC)

You've now introduced a fourth spelling, which finally gets some Google hits relevant to the Institute — thank you (but I'm surprised that you seem to think that you're backing up roozbeh, who offered two different spellings, neither of which came up on Google when I tried). Any chance of an article on the Institute, so that it's not a red link? Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 21:17, 4 May 2005 (UTC)

I've started an article, in fact (and found another spelling). I haven't found much information, though, so contributions would be welcome. Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 21:47, 4 May 2005 (UTC)

thanks for starting the article! I will put more info and some public domain pictures ASAP--Sina 20:23, 5 May 2005 (UTC)

Khuzestan and Ahvaz

Hello. If you have time, please see the Khuzestan and Ahvaz articles and their respective discussion pages. The neutrality of these articles is being disputed by a very determined user (User:Zora), and the discussions have subsequently degenerated into pointlessness. I believe the articles are factually and historically accurate and NPOV - Zora claims that I am a Persian nationalist attempting to censor her revisionist historical views. I, in turn, accuse her of promoting blatantly pro pan-Arabist propaganda drawn from so-called 'Al-Ahwazi' political websites, all of which is very obvious to myself and a couple of other users. Your input and assistance in this matter (as well as any other admins who are able to act as a third-party) would be appreciated. SouthernComfort 21:07, 13 May 2005 (UTC)

I'm so sorry I can't help much. I have been accused of both things, pro-Persian activism (about my work on articles related to Azerbaijanis) and anti-Persian activism (about my work on articles related to Persian Gulf). I prefer not to interfere, but I appreciate efforts trying to come to a common point of view. Make sure your goal is always improving the article, instead of proving a point. roozbeh 21:24, May 13, 2005 (UTC)
Tell me about it. Unfortunately accusations of political bias always seem to enter into the fray, even when one is presenting the established history. It's ridiculous, so I can understand that you would not want to become involved. Thanks anyway. SouthernComfort 23:44, 13 May 2005 (UTC)

User:Hamidifar and Iranian Physics News

Howdy. If you could try to get through to User:Hamidifar that there is not a conspiracy to delete his article and that a VfD nomination shouldn't be taken as a personal affront, it would be much appreciated. There's a one-sided shouting match going on at WP:VIP; I tried to respond on Hamidifar's talk page, but he's not getting it. Cheers, androidtalk 00:49, May 14, 2005 (UTC)

I've removed Hamidifar's rant from WP:VIP and put it on his talk page. He's put it back on VIP several times—not getting it, no, but at least the shouting-match is over, as people have tired of responding to him. See also my listing (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard/Incidents&diff=13813604&oldid=13796371) at WP:AN/I. His personal attacks against you are really disgraceful—one more feather on the scale and I'll block him.--Bishonen | talk 02:42, 17 May 2005 (UTC)

Copyright tags are unwarranted

Please remove the Copyright tags you slapped on Shush Castle and Takht-e Soleyman and Choqa Zanbil.

  1. Iranian websites are not legally protected under International copyright laws. Iran is not a member of WTO, nor a signatory to the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works. (see list here) (http://www.copyrightaid.co.uk/berne_convention_signatories.htm), and correspondingly does not adhere to International Copyright laws itself. Accordingly Iran officially copies and distributes pirated copies of Microsoft Products, Hollywood Movies, and various Published material. Wikipedia (an American company) is not legally responsible for anything even if something was copied from a website from Iran. --Zereshk 18:31, 17 May 2005 (UTC)
  2. This is especially true if the works copied are non-proprietary. Please see Title 17 of the US copyright law, which Wikipedia is bound to.--Zereshk 17:19, 18 May 2005 (UTC)
  • I don't agree, but even if you are right, would you please state how is the UNESCO web page [1] (http://whc.unesco.org/pg.cfm?cid=31&id_site=1077) that you copied the Takht-e Soleyman article from an Iranian website? roozbeh 11:07, May 19, 2005 (UTC)
As youve noticed, I re-wrote that particular page ( Takht-e Soleyman )excluding the copied parts. So it shouldnt matter anyway.
As for the other 2 pages, it doesnt matter whether or not you agree with me. Trust me, Iranian websites are not legally protected. You can uphold their copyrights, but youre not obligated to. Wikipedia is not liable for such cases. Websites like "Iranchamber.com" are however protected. But they are not exactly Iranian websites.--Zereshk 13:20, 19 May 2005 (UTC)
