Hello, welcome to Wikipedia. Here are some useful links in case you haven't already found them;
If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian!

It certainly is possible that VfD can be shortened - if you help us shorten it! You can remove any listings that you consider resolved - either deleting them (if you don't think they're important long term), or moving them to the relevant talk page. Also, where discussions are getting long, you can move them to the relevant talk page (or a /delete page - see wikipedia:archived deletion debates) just leaving a two line reference. If we all work together, we can help make the page shorter and more usable for everyone! :) Martin 19:35, 25 Nov 2003 (UTC)
Re: Tomoe Gozen - that sort of thing can and should be deleted on site if an administrator spots it. I've deleted it now - thanks for finding it. Secretlondon 19:22, Dec 1, 2003 (UTC)
Thanks for spotting that DefCon was a duplicate of Defense Condition. I don't think either should be deleted though. What happens when an article is accidentally duplicated is that is listed on Wikipedia:Duplicate articles until someone can merge the two. This saves useful information being deleted. I have added merge notices to the two articles so that anyone working on them will be aware that there is another waiting to be merged with it. Angela 04:47, 2 Dec 2003 (UTC)
Note to myself...
Just FYI, I check the New Articles article frequently, and I always seem to want to notify someone of a so-called "junk page" whenever I spot one, not knowing that the administrator will eventually spot it quickly enough. So if any of the administrators get a note from me telling them of a junk page, remember this little note. Eventually, I will be confident enough to reassure myself that an administrator will spot and delete a junk page just a few minutes after I spot it myself.

Thanks! Just what I always wanted. :) Wikipedia:Deleted test is a place you can leave such things if I'm not around. Angela 01:05, 3 Dec 2003 (UTC)
They were all created by JoeM who is near enough banned and as such have now been deleted. Angela. 20:13, 13 Dec 2003 (UTC)

In X (window sytem), the server is the computer with the display and keyboard; the client is the computer running the actual program; yes, this is the reverse of conventional client/server terminology, but it is the X window terminology, and mixing the two on the X page would need some careful clarification, which is probably a good idea in any case :) Pagan 06:59, 31 Dec 2003 (UTC) (I mention this because you swapped them around, and I assume you're merely unfamiliar with X terminology.)

Two letter acronyms
I see you're creating a whole lot of pages with titles consisting of two capital letters. Did you realise we already have a whole lot consisting of two lower case letters - and these are all neatly linked up from the single-letter pages (e.g. Q, qt, etc)? It seems to me it would be much better not to have a lower case and an upper case series - could you work with the existing pages? seglea 07:14, 21 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Denelson83, Just wanted to note that, as long as your user page (User:Denelson83) remains blank, it shows up on Special:Wantedpages. Perhaps you have a reason for leaving it as it is? If you don't, it would be useful to have a little text there so that it doesn't show up as a red link. Also, red linked user pages often (though of course not always) indicate a brand-new user, and since you seem to be settling in here, I guess I'd encourage you to claim established status. :) If you'd rather leave it blank, of course I will not press the issue--it's your user page. :) Thanks, Jwrosenzweig 18:05, 9 Feb 2004 (UTC)
- Your comment to me seemed a little angry or upset -- I'm sorry if I offended you. I had never seen you refuse a request in the past, so the comment "and that's final" took me by surprise. I hope that I have misunderstood your tone, but if you are upset with me, I have to say I think it's unjustified. I believe I was very polite above, and as I said, I won't ask again. It's not a big deal, in my opinion: I was just asking because some users in the past have been very open to placing information on their user page. I will leave you alone in future, as you seem to desire. Thank you. Jwrosenzweig 21:35, 9 Feb 2004 (UTC)
- Thanks for the apology--I'm sure I just misunderstood. I'm occasionally poor at reading another's emotions, especially in print. I hope I was not too terse in my reply above, and I hope we can work together profitably in the future. May your username always be red :-) Jwrosenzweig 21:47, 9 Feb 2004 (UTC)
Earth's magnetic field
It's two months after you asked the question, but I just saw your comment on Talk:Earth's magnetic field and gave an answer. I'm no expert, but there's nothing major to worry about from magnetic field reversals. Bryan 02:05, 16 Mar 2004 (UTC)

- That's a lot of good work on those articles, and it deserved to be recognised. So what I guess I'm saying is, thanks for the praise, but it really should be directed at you. :) Gentgeen 08:11, 27 May 2004 (UTC)
