MacPherson strut
Nice job on the diagram for MacPherson strut. That was one of the requested pictures that I vaguely hand on my 'keep an eye out for' list, but I doubted I could take a picture that was much better than the previous one. The diagram approach is much better. -- Solipsist 12:12, 6 Jan 2005 (UTC)
I also wanted to say that I liked the MacPherson strut diagram. Harald Hansen 20:31, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Free Republic/Jim Robinson
My apologies for merging and redirecting the Jim Robinson article without discussion, but I don't believe it is general policy to have articles on people who are notable only for their websites, when the article about hte website itself will suffice quite well. See e.g. The Best Page in the Universe.
In any case, it is quite easily to undo, as User:Wakeforest demonstrated so aptly. If you want to discuss it, I've brought it up on the Talk:Free Republic page. --Jonathan Christensen 08:28, 14 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- No harm done. My apologies. Silly me, I should have read the Talk:Free Republic page before I commented. Or maybe I shouldn’t have been reading recent changes in the wee hours of the morning. -Casito 23:17, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Hey, Sorry to bother you about this again, but might you mind clarifying your position (or lack thereof) on this on the Wikipedia:Votes_for_deletion/Jim Robinson page? User:Rangerdude is claiming that you are in support of keeping them as two seperate articles based on your early comments on Talk:Jim Robinson.
Thanks! --Jonathan Christensen 11:34, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Shenanagains

What the hell's your problem? I never would joke about the Vietnam War. It was a great travesty and resulted in the loss of over 58,000 American soldiers. And no I didn't lose 82 family members but my dad was killed in the war. His name was Robert Stevens Samuels if you don't believe me and you can go and check it up. I would never joke about a thing like that esecially a war that took my father's life and I find it extremely insulting you would suggest so. And I apologize for putting the remarks I did earlier on Vietnam but I cannot help but feel a certain hatred for a country that resulted in my father's death. I have had thoughts of suicide (which is also no laughing matter), especially when I was 13 and first learned of my father's death. However I have been able to overcome that and now live a happy life with my wife and 2 kids. Again I apologize for the post I made earlier on Vietnam but I take deep offense to you suggesting I regard the Vietnam War as a joke. I realize from your bio that you are only 22 but I still don't think that is any excuse for jumping to a conclusion about a person and accusing them of taking lightly one of the most deplorable wars in our nation's history. I would hope you would be more considerate of the user's feelings in the future.(at 14:46, 21 Apr 2005 User:128.172.224.210 forgot to sign)
- Leaving this one up to make a point. I did look up "Robert Stevens Samuels." 5 men with the surname 'Samuels' died in Vietnam, but none of them had 'Robert,' 'Stevens,' or 'Steven' for a first or middle name. (see US deaths (http://grunt.space.swri.edu/thewall/s.html), Aus deaths (http://grunt.space.swri.edu/austwall.htm), NZ deaths (http://grunt.space.swri.edu/nzlist3.htm)) This goes to show you how far some vandals will go. I can't imagine what this anon thinks he is trying to accomplish, so I am left to conclude that he draws pleasure from telling lies. -Casito⇝Talk 07:55, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC)

It's actually spelled shenanigans by the way. Just thought I'd let you know. I would have corrected it myself but you usually just edit what I post. Hope you have a great weekend. (at 20:04, 21 Apr 2005 User:128.172.224.210 forgot to sign)
- I was making a subtle play on words. Shenan-agains refers to repeated shenanigans (i.e shenanning again). I probably should have added a dash for clarity.-Casito⇝Talk 02:44, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I would guess the dorky-looking one in shorts fourth from the right! (correct?) HarrypsauceTalk
- Yeah, that's me. I guess it really wasn't too hard to figure out. One guy is bald; another has a darker skin tone and doesn't look like the type who would decide to grow a beard; Only one other archer is clearly visible. Oh, and being identified as "dorky-looking" from an image where my body measures only 50x200px is a new record for me.-Casito⇝Talk 03:09, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Sorry about that! Not used to the messaging system on here. Thanks for the alert on the pix. When I can work out how to verify them I'll do it in future! Ta again. Harrypsauce 14:21, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)Talk

Narc
Hi Casito. Please check the history of articles before tagging them for speedy deletion. The article Narc is a legitimate article that has been targeted by vandals. You tagged one of the vandalised versions. A good tip, I find, is to check the last version by an editor with a username. If that looks like rubbish, tag. If not, revert. speedy delete
Stop tagging articles for speedy delete. You don't know what you are doing. TWO MINUTES after my first edit on Massimo Pigliucci clearly labelled "step one" you marked it to be deleted. This is an important noteable person. (at 01:44, 4 May 2005 User:4.250.33.204 forgot to sign)
- In responce (also posted at User talk:4.250.33.204):
- Sign in. Most wikipedians are suspicious of anonymous users. If you had been logged in, I would have given you the benefit of the doubt. Do you have any idea how many junk articles are created by anons every hour?
- Even after you added material, your article Massimo Pigliucci still isn't all that notable, and it might show up at votes for deletion. I won't be the one to send it there, though.
- Lastly, the article was not marked in any way as being edited. You wrote step one for a summary, but since that was the only edit, no one would read the summary. I resent being accused by an anon of not reading invisible notices. Please use the {{inuse}} tag if the page is undergoing an edit and you fear detetion.

Get this
His Massimo Pigliucci article was a blatent copyright violation of [1] (http://www.secweb.org/bookstore/author.asp?AuthorID=6). It really upsets me when an anon gets on my case for going after his article that he just ripped off of someone else. -Casito⇝Talk 06:21, 4 May 2005 (UTC)
- It is a new user. It is advisable to be tolerant to newbies. He is not a vandal and creates not a vanity article. You can patiently explain him that copying pages from other sites is bad idea. Besides, the page you quote for copyvio contains nothing but very basic bio facts: "professor of..., PhD in...". It is hardly posible to make a copyvio case from this. It is very easy to modify this kind of text to remove any traces of copyvio. It is much better to have a new contributor. Mikkalai 07:37, 4 May 2005 (UTC)
- I know perfectly well how much time a person may spend fighting vandals and guys that simply copy first best webpage into wikipedia. But if a person starts talking, this is a hint to take him a bit more patiently. Mikkalai 07:50, 4 May 2005 (UTC)
Sig image
Hi Casito - you wrote: Use if images in signatures is discouraged for several reasons
- Yes, I know - I've actually done some editing work on that page. You might also note that it is not official policy, just a recommendation, as there is not a clear consensus supporting it. If there was any way that I could put my signature as a text item I would. Unfortunately, my signature is the picture - by which I mean that the Uffington White Horse is how I sign my name when writing or painting. To do otherwise here would feel as though it was not me doing the work. It's interesting, though, that after 25000 edits and a couple of months as an admin, I've had virtually no complaints (from memory, you are the second to mention it in the last six months). If there are many I'll definitely have to consider it, though. Grutness|hello? Missing image

Here ye, here ye
I realize that it would be in the best interest of both Wikipedia and my sanity if I stay away from Recent Changes and similar pages which put me in the office of Wiki-cop. Without fail, I eventually get upset and bite the newcomers. The previous talk messages should reinforce that point. Furthermore, RC tends to stress me out and I would rather play it cool. I have decided that, at least for now, I'm not the best person to police recent changes and I could be much, much more constructive working in other areas. Even though I am a long way from receiving formal sanctions, I will be sanctioning myself: I am indefinitly suspending my activities on RC. I hope that my time on Wikipedia will be more enjoyable for me, and more beneficial for the encyclopedia. -Casito⇝Talk 02:50, 6 May 2005 (UTC)
