Cburnett admin nomination

I was nominated for admin :) Haven't seen you edit any of the ISU pages lately... Cburnett 23:00, Apr 26, 2005 (UTC)

Congratulations! It looks like you're going to get it. I took about two months off, I hadn't edited much of anything. User:Brockert/sig 23:10, Apr 26, 2005 (UTC)

Gunpowder

Um, are you sure that's the correct use of {{dab}} on this page? I'm not complaining, mind you; it "fixes" the minor organizational issues that led me to suggest the merge on the talk page, and quite neatly, too. I've just not seen the tag used that way yet. Just curious. Thanks Soundguy99 01:24, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)

No, dab is not quite right, but I didn't know anything better. Information on black powder keeps cropping up there, but it doesn't belong. User:Brockert/sig 22:16, May 11, 2005 (UTC)

disrupting wikipedia policy vote

You voted once for the policy at Wikipedia:Don't disrupt Wikipedia to illustrate a point. Despite a 75% support that vote was rejected by the minority. A new vote has been called with a two week limit at Wikipedia talk:Don't disrupt Wikipedia to illustrate a point. Please take a moment to participate. Thanks. - Tεxτurε 16:58, 13 May 2005 (UTC)

Template:Wikipedians sub pages

You dunno how much I wanna TFD it, just so your little prophecy comes true :).

That being said, don't misuse edit summaries. -- Netoholic @ 22:19, 2005 May 13 (UTC)

I'll do what I want with my edit summaries, thanks. Nice to know that you're still stalking me, though. I guess it was silly to thing that taking two months off would be sufficient. User:Brockert/sig 22:23, May 13, 2005 (UTC)
Don't flatter yourself. Besides, I was trying to jovial. -- Netoholic @ 22:25, 2005 May 13 (UTC)
And yet, I did leave for two months largely because of you, and you watch my contributions and personal pages closely enough to have a response within two minutes of mine. User:Brockert/sig 01:15, May 15, 2005 (UTC)

Deletion procedures

Instead of deleting all of my "incorrectly nominated" deletion notices, why couldn't you have corrected them into whatever format it is you're going on about? That would have been the decent thing to do. MacRusgail 19:43, 14 May 2005 (UTC)

Because part of the procedure is saying why you want the page deleted. Since I can't read your mind, I can't really do that, can I? User:Brockert/sig 01:14, May 15, 2005 (UTC)
I did say why I wanted them deleted. It was on the various discussion pages until you came along and got rid of them. Not to mention the history pages. Instead of just showing off your wikipedia knowledge, you could have actually done something constructive. MacRusgail 13:10, 17 May 2005 (UTC)
Ah, I had you confused with one of the other people who can't read directions, sorry about that. Either way, it's not my job to do your VfD listings. Either way, having the deletion page linked to from the page in question for some time before listing it on VfD biases the votes.
You've convinced me. From now on, when I unlist incompetent deletion attempts, I won't let the deleter know. Simplifies the task immensely, thanks. User:Brockert/sig 22:23, May 17, 2005 (UTC)
You see it as your job to undo my VfD listings though. Why not be helpful instead of being smug? A little politeness and humility towards those who you look down on as "incompetent" would go a long way. Who are you doing this for? Your ego? MacRusgail 14:42, 19 May 2005 (UTC)
I think you're taking this way too seriously. Cool off a bit. If I was doing it for my ego, I'd be doing something that had some chance of ever being seen. I was being helpful, just not in the way you wanted. If I had just fixed the page with no comment, you would have never know that you had done it wrong. Fix a man's mistake, and he thinks he knows what he is doing for a day; tell him to RTFM, and he can know what he is doing for the rest of his life. User:Brockert/sig 09:56, May 22, 2005 (UTC)

Character munging

Hi—that's interesting; I'm not sure where it's coming from. For some reason, this browser seems to not display the dash or smart quotes correctly in the edit box. I'll see if I can track down the specific problem, and watch for those in the future.

...ah, found it. My browser was making the wrong assumption about the character set being used (it's probably an outgrowth of this issue (http://linuxplanet.com/linuxplanet/opinions/3749/1/)). I think I've got it fixed now. Thanks for the heads up! --TenOfAllTrades (talk/contrib) 01:15, 17 May 2005 (UTC)

I'm afraid the Onion Routing vandal just switched to another IP address...

How do I know that? Just had to revert my userpage from an edit by an IP address that has NOT been blocked that made my userpage's contents consist of one single picture... the same one that was being placed at Onion Routing. I'm going to bed, so I'd appreciate it if you'd keep an eye out for a while... and block that IP address. You can get it from my userpage history. --Chanting Fox 09:01, 22 May 2005 (UTC)

I'll be up for another half hour or so. If all else fails, I'll just ban the entire internet, and go to bed. :-) User:Brockert/sig 09:03, May 22, 2005 (UTC)
My page just got hit again a few minutes ago... both IP addresses started with "80." and I don't think this guy's going to stop anytime soon. I'll try running a trace on this guy... he's annoyed me enough for me to do that before I go to bed. --Chanting Fox 09:05, 22 May 2005 (UTC)
80.62.211.237 is an ADSL user on Tele Danmark. I sent them a message at abuse. I will be doing the same for all the rest of the vandals. User:Brockert/sig 09:19, May 22, 2005 (UTC)
Ten abuse messages away. I don't expect a real human response from any of them. User:Brockert/sig 09:51, May 22, 2005 (UTC)
I've gotten two responses from real humans, both of the passing-the-buck variety. User:Brockert/sig 01:41, May 27, 2005 (UTC)

Rokia Traoré

(italicised left on User talk:Petaholmes) The article Rokia Traoré was not a speedy deletion candidate the first time it was deleted and probably should not have been deleted again. It was listed on WP:VFU and was undeleted. User:Brockert/sig 01:51, May 26, 2005 (UTC)

I don't remember deleting Rokia Traoré, sorry if I caused you inconvenience.--nixie 02:11, 26 May 2005 (UTC)
It's no trouble, really. The undeletion policy requires me to leave these notices when I undelete something. [1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ALog&type=&user=&page=Rokia+Traor%E9) User:Brockert/sig 02:15, May 26, 2005 (UTC)
Is everything that's been deleted supposed to go through undeletion or can someone (ideally the creator) just ask nicely to get it restored?--nixie 02:21, 26 May 2005 (UTC)
The undeletion process WP:VFU is just for a few cases, like when a non-admin notices in the log that an article was deleted and they don't think it should have. Most stuff that gets deleted stays deleted. If an article's author wants their page undeleted, they are supposed to go through VfU. User:Brockert/sig 02:25, May 26, 2005 (UTC)

Edit count

I went through my contribs for each individual namespace - it was rather tedious, but I saved someone else the work. – ugen64 14:49, 26 May 2005 (UTC)

Oh ah. That is a bit tedious. Thanks. User:Brockert/sig 01:41, May 27, 2005 (UTC)

Wikipedia:List of Wikipedians by number of recent edits

Heyas, I think (although am not sure) that you're the last updater of Wikipedia:List of Wikipedians by number of recent edits and that it's been inactive for some time. If you'd briefly explain how to update that page, I would be happy to update it in the future as a reference for people since the page is a "nice one to have." Might you be willing to explain quickly? -SocratesJedi | Talk 21:03, 26 May 2005 (UTC)

No, I wasn't the most recent updater. I do have a simple script for doing it, but it does not do the nice bot coding that the current one has. If you look in the history, you can find the most recent updater. User:Brockert/sig 01:41, May 27, 2005 (UTC)

VFU

Thanks, I'll bear that in mind (man, that's confusing. VFD is five days. CFD is seven. TFD is five but recently changed to seven. VFU is ten...) Radiant_* 08:08, Jun 2, 2005 (UTC)

And things can be undeleted on VfU after five days if there is a majority and 3 votes to undelete, which confuses some people. I think the idea is that the less-seen pages have longer times, so that there is some chance of things being seen. User:Brockert/sig 23:40, Jun 2, 2005 (UTC)

Goa template

Looks good to me; I'll implement that in the next issue. Incidentally, is there a reason that new admins are no longer listed on WP:GO? Seems like that would be a helpful thing to put on there... --Spangineer (háblame) 11:32, Jun 2, 2005 (UTC)

There was a discussion when the Signpost started on its function compared to Goings-on. It was generally accepted that the information on GO would gradually be incorporated into the Signpost. Once the signpost has completely demonstrated that it is here to stay, I wouldn't be surprised to see GO go away. Another part of the reason is that I took a wiki vacation at about that time, so I stopped updating it, and apparently no one else took it over. User:Brockert/sig 23:40, Jun 2, 2005 (UTC)

Re:User talk:131.111.8.98

Thank you for said note, it was much appreciated. So, here I am, account and all... --TheGrappler 00:43, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)
