Hi. I notice that you de-linked the "Cannes affair" image on Alexandra Kerry, calling it a copyright violation because it was not in the public domain. My questions for you are these:
- We have many images on our encyclopedia that are considered fair use, such as the CNN logo. Granted, it's not ideal, but in some situations, we can't avoid it. Can you demonstrate that Image:Kerry.4CF2.jpg cannot be used under fair use?
- Why did you not remove the other, non-controversial image, if both were from the same source?
- If your real motivation for removing the image was because of its semi-nudity (I suspect this, but I may be wrong), then why not just say so in the edit summary, instead of making stuff up about copyright violations? Are you the copyright holder?
Whether or not the image is appropriate for the article is not the question here; I don't like the picture very much either, and I said as much on the talk page. However, I have restored the picture to the article because I think that your edit was unnecessary and, to be perfectly honest with you, untruthful. I have also listed my reasons for reverting your change on Wikipedia:Copyright problems under your entry. - You're right--we really don't know if both images came from the same place, and I was wrong to accuse you of double standards. However, I still don't see the image as being a slam against Kerry, any more than a compromising photo of one of his cousins would be. --Ardonik 07:03, Jul 30, 2004 (UTC)
