The Sunborn

The Sunborn pseudonym theoretically represents only part of me. However, in practice that is not always the case. Saint Sir Sojun Sunborn is a holy assassin, he eliminates what is not Christian canon. He represents the world of today and my attempt to reshape it. He also shadows my teen years in which he was designed. Recently there is a new character on the seen, he goes by the name Ven. Dr. Sirocco.

Metta

Some may wonder why metta is included in my signature. I will explain here. Metta is a Pali word meaning unconditional loving-kindness. The object of metta meditation is to cultivate goodwill and compassion towards all sentient beings. I endevour to, through the Buddha's teachings, radiate compassion. Unfortunately I am still human so it might not always be evident.

About Me

My first edit was made 00:55, 27 Jul 2004 UTC and ever since I have been poking around and adding but mostly fixing Wikipedia. When I get bored I work on RC patrol. I also have taken to hanging out in the IRC channel. I found copyvio stuff interesting and am writing a bot to collect possible copyvios, Rowbot. My blog, Into The Singularity (http://sunborn.blogspot.com/), has suffered due to my Wikiholism. I go to the brand new, University of Ontario Institute of Technology. I will be a "junior" in the Nuclear Engineering program. I am also one of the executive members of the university engineering society. Oh, and at this rate my book will never be done.

Zeta Psi will soon grant us chapter status and we the 'forever pledges' will soon be made brothers. Lord Buddha said that having good friends is the entirety of his religion. May the circle of Τ Κ Φ never be broken.

Here is me in a nutshell: Information Junkie. I want to know everything, despite Friedrich Nietzsche's warnings that wisdom put limits to knowledge. Although I do wish I could be nearly as inflamitory as he was. I really like to see what happens when people get riled up. It might make me feel just that extra bit human. For all my trying I still get angry sometimes (you won't see me mad though). And for all my trying, I still make mistakes.

Recently I finally have come to realize the anatman that Buddha talked about. We are nothing but chemical reactions, our conciousness is an illusion, a mere suvival mechanism. I equate samsara with evolution. Only by kindness will all suffering stop. Now, if only I could loose my prejustice I might make Nibbana. Oh, and desire is a sticker too (how I want a gecko).

I will go out of my way to do something different as can be seen as me moving the TOC at the top of this page to the other side of the article.

Alignment

I was shocked one day to realized my alignment was true neutral. I guess that it is not much of a shock to those who know how I think though. I advocate that there is nothing actually called good or evil. I am a pure utilitarian so it makes sense I guess that I would class as neutral. Maybe there should be an engineer alignment?

see other's alignments: Wikipedia:Wikipedians by D&D alignment

On Wikipedia

I consider Wikipedia to be the starting of the whole of human knowlege. Eventually the form will evolve but this will be one great monolith in time, akin to the pyramids or the Apollo program. I will treat everyone with repect and hope for it in return. May we reach the post-human stage togeather.

My User Pages

Vandalism

I find funny vandalism entertaining even though it is wrong. I especially like creative vandalism. Like today I reverted a blanked Buddha article with the words "Don't trust this guy". That was not funny, it was just pathetic. I did enjoy however, the Nazi references to Muhammad in one vandalism occurance. Maybe I am not cut for the job of editor? Maybe I am just a sick and twisted person? Maybe I am the only sane one here? I dunno, I take religion as something to be laughed at.

Atheism

This is in response to the ruckus at Talk:Atheism. I am not an atheist, I am not a theist, what am I? I call myself agnostic. Atheism is the positive denial of gods, theism is the postive believe in God or gods. I have a positive believe that the Christian God does not exist, YHWH might exist, but the way Islam and Christianity portray him does not jive with everything we as humans know to be true. So am I an atheist? No, I am open to existance of gods! However, if you dare call me a "weak" atheist I will call you biased because my logic is not weak in any way, shape or form. It would be like the Catholics calling the Protestants "weak" Christians, no one would stand for it, except the Catholics.
