Redirects suck!
My theory is that the vast number of redirects in Wikipedia vastly devalues the rankings wikipedia pages get in google. This is seemingly confirmed by a google search for "encyclopedia Goethe" and "encyclopedia Shakespeare". In the first case the wikipedia article places 69th, in the second it doesn't even appear in the top 100. "encyclopedia beethoven" ranks 48th. Although this is likely not only due to redirect problems, as several of the wikipedia content clones consistently rank higher than wikipedia. Anyway, in a couple of weeks I shall do the search again and see how the rankings compare. To that end, I have started this project to avoid redirects by employing the snobot.
