Shane Daniel King (February 13 1979), better known on Wikipedia as User:ShaneKing, was born in Essendon, Victoria, Australia. He went to a public primary school in Melbourne before moving to Bendigo, where he attended public high schools. After graduating high school, he attended the University of Melbourne where he obtained a Bachelor of Computer Science.
Since university, Shane has worked as a software engineer for a variety of companies, first in Canberra, ACT and later in Brisbane, Queensland.
Interests
Although I don't necessarily edit articles on all these subjects, I would like to, given the time, and possibly someday I will:
- Diehard supporter of the Essendon Bombers in the Australian Football League
- Likewise with the Australian cricket team
- Music, particuarly Independent music (ie not RIAA), particuarly rock and punk
- Role playing games and Computer games
- Science-fiction, fantasy, classic literature, and a wide variety of non-fiction books
- Modern movies (approx. 1970 onwards)
- Politics and philosophy
Wikipedia
My view is that everyone is a Wikipedian, we're all trying to make this project better, and although we may have different views on what better is, playing politics is not it. I'm also currently trying to get more into the development side of mediawiki, since I have to be realistic: I can probably do more good writing code than writing prose.

- vigilante action
Licensing
Basically, do what you like with my work, so long as you acknowledge the original authorship. I'm not opposed to just dumping everything in the public domain, but as a philosophical point, I think people have the right to assert authorship of their work (even if not necessarily the other things copyright provides for), hence I'm licensing my work this way.

You can't counter your biases unless you know what they are, so here are mine:

- Pacifist
- I see Individualism and Collectivism as complementary, not contradictory
- Pro science and logic
- Anarchist (what Wikipedia calls anarcho-socialism) sympathiser
- Democracy sceptic
- Pro equality, but not in the sense of exactly the same (personally prefer the word equivalency)
- Pro children's rights, anti parent's rights
- Single world language advocate
- Anti private schools
- God apathetic
- Anti organised religion
