Start here
If you already know how to fix the problem, then other than page deletions you can do it yourself.
Does the article exist? no, that's the problem / yes, it exists but shouldn't / yes, it exists and needs to be improved.
New articles
If you can, at least write a stub, that is a definition or description plus one or two further pieces of information about the subject. Add the stub notice. Then list your new stub on cleanup.
If you can't even write a stub, add the article to Wikipedia:Requested pages.
Candidates for deletion
Is the article a redirect? yes / no
Pages for deletion
Is the article a candidate for speedy deletion according to Wikipedia:Candidates for speedy deletion? yes / no.
Redirects for deletion
Redirects are not usually deleted unless they are actively causing a problem. Add the redirect, together with the article it redirects to, to the bottom of Wikipedia:Redirects for deletion, having first read the information at the top of the page about when redirects are deleted.
Speedy deletion
Add the article to the top of the section for today's date on Wikipedia:Cleanup, together with the reason for deletion and the comment delete immediately.
Pages for VfD
Add the article to the bottom of the section for today's date on Wikipedia:Votes for Deletion, together with the reason for deletion. Sign your comment. Put the deletion message to the top of the article itself by adding {{msg:vfd}} to the article.
Pages not for deletion
What is the problem?
- The page is too short.
- The article duplicates another article, that is there are two articles on the same subject but with different titles. Wikipedia:Duplicate articles.
Short articles
Is the article a stub, meaning that it consists of just a definition or description plus one or two other pieces of information? yes / no, it's longer. / no, it isn't even that much.
Substubs
Would the article be better off in a dictionary than an encyclopedia? yes / no.
Stubs
If it doesn't already have one, add a stub notice to the article - put {{msg:stub}} at the bottom of the article.
If you feel that the article requires more attention than other stubs, (for example if it's a substub, a new stub, or if it's on an important subject), add it to Wikipedia:cleanup.
Pages for expansion
If you can, add a description of the necessary expansion to the articles talk page. Then add the page to Wikipedia:cleanup.
