Sorry, I have only just noticed your query on my talk page, have had a few family health probs. and though have worked on one or two WP items, never got round to looking at the most obvious pages.
As for my "Grape Street", I got caught out by the various Guardian/Observer pages which seem to be intent on renaming "Grape Street" "Gropecunt Street". I can't for the life of me remember where the connection with the "Great Fire" was being made, probably sme kind of conflation of several articles. Grape Street is indeed in the Bloomsbury area, a different thing altogether.
So, Grape Street not being anywhere near EC2, we have to look elsewhere. The "British-History" website is very useful indeed, presumably it may be trusted(?). When they describe the block bounded by (Soper Lane) Queen Street W., Cheapside N., and Gropecunt Lane E. in the Soper Lane 145/1 page, they are almost certainly pointing straight at Bucklersbury, which nowadays closes that block to the east.
Nicholson's Greater London Street Atlas (Comprehensive Edition) shows the block exactly, a rectangle with the north-east corner cut off.
North - Cheapside (the Mercers Hall is there)
West - (Soper Lane) Queen Street (at right angle to Cheapside)
South - Pancras Lane (at right angle to Queen Street)
East - Bucklersbury (acute angle to Pancras lane, obtuse angle to Cheapside).
To all intents and purposes it seems to pinpoint Bucklersbury as being the original Gropecunt Lane, because the adjoining block to the East is a triangular formation bounded by Bucklersbury (South-West), Poultry (North), and Victoria Street (South-East), all of which doesn't seem to agree with what British-History describes'
http://blog.hakmao.com/archives/00011.html has it that it is Grub Street, later renamed Milton Street, which is fairly near but not really according to what "br-h" describe.
