Upper Pottsgrove Township is a township located in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 4,102.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 13.1 km² (5.1 mi²). 13.1 km² (5.1 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 4,102 people, 1,417 households, and 1,156 families residing in the township. The population density is 313.6/km² (812.5/mi²). There are 1,459 housing units at an average density of 111.5/km² (289.0/mi²). The ethnic makeup of the township is 95.20% White, 2.51% African American, 0.24% Native American, 0.90% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.27% from other races, and 0.88% from two or more races. 1.02% of the population are Hispanic or Latino.
There are 1,417 households out of which 40.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 72.4% are married couples living together, 6.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 18.4% are non-families. 14.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.89 and the average family size is 3.22.
