Uganda National Liberation Front
|
The Uganda National Liberation Front, or UNLF was formed by exiled Ugandans in the late 1970s. Its military arm is the Uganda National Liberation Army (UNLA). It was the Ugandan force that fought side-by-side with the Tanzanian People's Defence Force (TPDF) to topple from power the regime of Idi Amin in Uganda. After the overthrow of Amin on April 11, 1979, the UNLA became the national army of Uganda until it was defeated on January 25, 1986 by the guerrillas of the National Resistance Army (NRA) led by Yoweri Museveni.
