UGK

UGK (short for "Underground Kingz") is a Southern hip hop act from Port Arthur, Texas. The group was formed in 1987 by members Pimp C and Bun B, and is signed to Jive Records . With their longevity and funky sound, UGk is often compared to Eightball & MJG.
A popular and respected Southern hip hop act, UGK's biggest single was "Pimpin' Ain't No Illusion", a #6 hit on the Billboard Rap Charts. The group made a high-profile guest appearance on Jay-Z's 2000 hit single "Big Pimpin'", and also appeared on Three Six Mafia's hit "Sippin' On Some Sizzurp" the same year.
Pimp C was incarcerated on January 28 2003 on an aggrevated gun assault charge, after which point Jive put out a greatest hits LP and a chopped-and-screwed remix album. Although Pimp C is currently in prison, he released his solo debut, The Sweet James Jones Stories on Rap-A-Lot Records, March 1, 2005.
