Two Harbors is a city located in Lake County, Minnesota. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 3,613. It is the county seat of Lake County6.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 8.3 km² (3.2 mi²). It borders Lake Superior, which contributes the two natural harbors for which it is named, Burlington Bay and Agate Bay.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 3,613 people, 1,523 households, and 953 families residing in the city. The population density is 433.2/km² (1,120.7/mi²). There are 1,631 housing units at an average density of 195.6/km² (505.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 98.06% White, 0.06% African American, 0.66% Native American, 0.11% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.08% from other races, and 1.02% from two or more races. 0.61% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,523 households out of which 29.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.9% are married couples living together, 10.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 37.4% are non-families. 32.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.27 and the average family size is 2.86.
