According to the United States Census Bureau, the community has a total area of 6.1 km² (2.3 mi²). 6.0 km² (2.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.85% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 1,865 people, 736 households, and 474 families residing in the community. The population density is 309.0/km² (801.4/mi²). There are 797 housing units at an average density of 132.1/km² (342.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the community is 89.01% White, 0.38% African American, 4.29% Native American, 0.21% Asian, 0.54% Pacific Islander, 1.82% from other races, and 3.75% from two or more races. 6.97% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 736 households out of which 31.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.7% are married couples living together, 15.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.5% are non-families. 29.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.51 and the average family size is 3.10.
