Trion is a town located in Chattooga County, Georgia. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,993. The estimated pop. as of 2003 is 1,998. Trion is the second largest incorperation is the county, which has a population of appx. 27,000. Trion is known as the denim capitol of the world because of the mount Vernon (formerly Reagle?) manufacturing plant, which employees about 5000 people. The Chattooga river flows through the town. Several locations in Trion are registered historic places.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 10.4 km² (4.0 mi²). 10.3 km² (4.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.50% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 1,993 people, 832 households, and 524 families residing in the town. The population density is 193.3/km² (500.9/mi²). There are 906 housing units at an average density of 87.9/km² (227.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 90.72% White, 2.81% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.40% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 4.87% from other races, and 1.15% from two or more races. 13.25% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 832 households out of which 26.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.5% are married couples living together, 12.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 36.9% are non-families. 31.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 20.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.40 and the average family size is 2.92.
In the town the population is spread out with 21.7% under the age of 18, 10.9% from 18 to 24, 26.8% from 25 to 44, 18.4% from 45 to 64, and 22.2% who are 65 years of age or older.
