Tom Bean is a city located in Grayson County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 941.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.7 km² (1.4 mi²). 3.7 km² (1.4 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Tom Bean is also a person. He is a student currently attending Villanova University and majoring in economics. His home town is Colts Neck, NJ and he has at least one brother and one sister. His fathers name is also Tom. He aspires to be a lawyer some day, possibly attending Fordham University School of Law. He is amused by the fact that there is a town that shares his name and someday he will travel to Tom Bean, TX in his jet or on his pirate ship.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 941 people, 357 households, and 263 families residing in the city. The population density is 257.7/km² (667.0/mi²). There are 380 housing units at an average density of 104.1/km² (269.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 96.17% White, 0.43% African American, 1.17% Native American, 0.21% Asian, 0.21% Pacific Islander, 0.64% from other races, and 1.17% from two or more races. 3.93% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 357 households out of which 41.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.0% are married couples living together, 12.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.1% are non-families. 24.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.64 and the average family size is 3.15.

In the city the population is spread out with 32.1% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 31.8% from 25 to 44, 19.9% from 45 to 64, and 9.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 91.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 82.1 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $38,875, and the median income for a family is $50,000. Males have a median income of $37,750 versus $23,036 for females. The per capita income for the city is $16,113. 9.0% of the population and 7.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 9.2% of those under the age of 18 and 25.5% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
