Timrå Municipality is a Municipality northern Sweden where the town Timrå is the seat with a population of roughly 10,000. It is located on the main line railway, about 15 km north of the larger city Sundsvall (with 100,000 inhabitants).
Timrå is located in a terrain of forest and hills. Traditionally the industry has been dominated by forestry. The timber was transported through the rivers and streams to their destination, most often to sawmills. In tribute to this, the city arms depicts trees and water.
Timrå is in contemporary Sweden most known for its ice hockey club that plays in the highest division elitserien.
