Tim Reid (born December 19 1944 in Norfolk, Virginia) is an African American actor best known for his roles in prime time television programs.
Reid's most notable role was as the hip DJ "Venus Flytrap" on WKRP in Cincinnati. Other starring roles include Sister, Sister, Simon & Simon, Frank's Place, Snoops, and Linc's. More recently, he has focused on projects that highlight social issues, such as For Real. Reid and his wife, actress Daphne Maxwell Reid, currently own and run New Millennium Studios in Petersburg, Virginia.
In 1988, Reid won an award from Viewers for Quality Television Awards as "Best Actor in a Quality Comedy Series" in Frank's Place. In 1990, the same role earned him an Image Award for "Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series".
