Elvis Costello Chronology | ||
My Aim Is True (1977) | This Year's Model (1978) | Armed Forces (1979) |
This Year's Model (1978) was Elvis Costello's second album, and his first with The Attractions. It was voted as the best album of the year in The Village Voice Pazz & Jop critics poll.
Early issues of the album have an apparently misprinted cover, which cuts the first 'E' from 'Elvis' off the front cover. This was a deliberate mistake, as was pressing "Special pressing No. 003. Ring 434 32 32. Ask for Moira for your prize" between the holding spirals on Side A.
Track listing

Note: The original US issue, which shipped two months later, dropped "(I Don't Want to Go to) Chelsea" and "Night Rally" and added the single "Radio, Radio" at the end of side 2. Costello had recently conducted a memorable performance of "Radio, Radio" on popular American variety show Saturday Night Live December 17, 1977; he and The Attractions played the opening strains of "Less Than Zero" before Elvis stopped the live broadcast, apologized to the audience, and instructed the group to perform the more controversial "Radio, Radio".
