Third-wave of ska

The third-wave of ska, commonly referred to as ska punk and skacore, is a genre of music that arose in the 1990s in the United States.
Bands like Sublime and No Doubt drew off the influences of English two-tone ska revivalists from the early 1980s, especially The Specials, as well as a few pioneers from the United States like Operation Ivy and The Toasters. Aspects of ska were mixed with other genres, including rock, punk rock, and jazz, almost to the point of losing all elements of the original Jamaican ska. There are bands like Hepcat and others who have revived the original sound of Jamaican ska.
While at one point, the popularity of skacore was waning, recently, skacore has begun to re-emerge, especially in Quebec, Canada. Fused with jazz and traditional folk music, this strange genre can be seen in bands such as Les Trois Accords. As well, bands like the Mad Caddies are blending third-wave ska with klezmer and blues to create a new, unique style.
