The Village is a dense inner city suburb located in Oklahoma County, Oklahoma and is part of the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 10,157.
Geography
The Village is located at 35°34'7" North, 97°33'24" West (35.568723, -97.556600)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.6 km² (2.5 mi²). 6.6 km² (2.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.39% is water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 10,157 people, 4,778 households, and 2,723 families residing in the city. The population density is 1,544.0/km² (3,999.8/mi²). There are 4,997 housing units at an average density of 759.6/km² (1,967.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 80.19% White, 10.47% African American, 2.54% Native American, 1.91% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 1.13% from other races, and 3.73% from two or more races. 3.77% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 4,778 households out of which 24.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.8% are married couples living together, 10.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 43.0% are non-families. 35.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.12 and the average family size is 2.76.
In the city the population is spread out with 20.2% under the age of 18, 10.2% from 18 to 24, 34.4% from 25 to 44, 18.9% from 45 to 64, and 16.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 86.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 84.1 males.
