The Vandals are a hardcore punk rock band originally from California. Despite having never signed to a major record label, the Vandals have managed to maintain a dedicated following for over fifteen years as a result of constant touring and the release of several acclaimed albums.
After a few early personnel changes, the Vandals stabilized as Dave Quackenbush (lead singer), Warren Fitzgerald (guitarist), Joe Escalante (bassist) and Josh Freese (drummer) in the 1980s. Most of their recorded music was released on a variety of independent labels (Triple X, Nitro Records, Epitaph Records and Kung Fu Records) - (Kung Fu Records is a label owned by Joe Escalante and Warren Fitzgerald, and run by Joe Escalante). Of particular note are the critically acclaimed albums The Quickening (1996) and Hitler Bad, Vandals Good (1998).
