The Principle of Evil Made Flesh (1994) is Cradle of Filth's first album. It is generally thought of to have the rawest sound of all their albums, though the sound is slightly more refined than their demos. Dani Filth's vocals are also improved compared to their demos, instead of death-metal like grunts and an occasional shriek it is his trademark style.
The album is filled with barrages of guitars, drums and keyboards. This album also has many more melodic instrumental tracks then most of Cradle of Filth's other albums, although it would seem they are returning to this with Damnation and a Day. Their style on this album is much closer to death metal than any of their later works.
Tracks from this album have been rerecorded on "Vempire" (1996) and "Bitter Suites to Succubi" (2001).
