The George, Southwark
|
The George and Dragon as it was formerly known was established in the medieval period on Borough High Street in Southwark. It became one of the many famous coaching Inns in the days of Charles Dickens (who mentions it in 'Little Dorrit'). It is the only one to survive in Central London and is a popular Inn for the local area. It is the last galleried Inn surviving in London.
It is next door to the White Hart and the site of the Tabard
It is owned by the National Trust and leased to a private company.
