The Anna Nicole Show is a reality sitcom, starring zaftig former model and Playboy Playmate Anna Nicole Smith, which debuted on August 4, 2002. The program airs on E! Entertainment Television channel. It was cancelled in February 2004 due to low ratings, though some insiders have quoted "creative differences." The show purported to be a realistic depiction of day-to-day life for Smith, but was obviously at least partially scripted and found her participating in situations clearly contrived by the show's production team. These included trips to Las Vegas, shopping sprees and blind dates.
The show co-starred her lawyer and alleged best friend Howard K. Stern, her purple-haired assistant Kim "Kimmie" Walther, and her teenaged son Daniel Smith. The program heavily featured appearances by flamboyant and effeminant homosexual interior designer Bobby Trendy, who was depicted as an incompetant and indignant person with a chip on his shoulder. Smith's behaviour on the show often led to speculation that she was abusing drugs and/or alcohol.
