History
At the time of the Gaul, Thérouanne was the capital of Morinie, country of the Morins (Belgian tribe). It was then the seat of the significant diocese, most famous for its bishop being Saint-Omer. During the Middle Ages, Thérouanne belonged to the county of Artois.
Its cathedral, now destroyed, used to be the largest in France.
