Prince Tamatoa-a-tu [Tamatoa V], Ari'i-rahi of Ra'iatea and Taha'a was born 23rd September 1842 in Moe'area.Son of Moe-'ore Teri'i Tino-rua Te-ari'i Noho-ra'i Ari'i-rahi of Ra'iatea and Huahine. Adopted by Tamatoa IV Ari'i-rahi of Ra'iatea and Taha'a and succeeded on the death of his father 19th August 1857 and crowned at Opoa by The Rev. Platt, 1st December 1860.Deposed 1871.He became the prince consort of Tahiti maried twice to Moe Ma-hea-nu'u-a-Mai (Princess Moe-a-Mai) and to queen Pomare IV of Tahiti.He died at Ra'iatea, 30th September 1881 and had one son and five daugthers.
