Various Accounts of the Origins of the Sant Family
The original editor of this article, User:Tancarville, presented an account of the family origins according to which the family originated from Nicola Santu, the illegitimate son of Prince Nicola Sayd with an Ethiopian slave. An anonymous editor changed this, putting forward a different theory, that the name comes from the place name Assant. I have incorporated both theories in the second paragraph since I have no information as to which is true. --BM 20:06, 2 Jan 2005 (UTC)
On his web site, User:Tancarville gives the following genealogy for the family:
- Principe Nicola Sayd (1505-36)
- Nicola Santu (1534-79) married Imperia, daughter of a slave
- Alberto (Bertu) Sant (testamento from notary)
- Gio Maria Sant (marriage document 1644)
- Gio Francesco Sant (marriage document 1701)
- Salvatore Baldassare Sant (1st Count Sant)
Note that [[User:Tancarville] (Charles Said-Vassallo) reckons his own descent as being from Principe Nicola Sayd. --BM 20:20, 2 Jan 2005 (UTC)
