Talk:Members of the French Royal Families

What does "Other" mean? -- Zoe

One thing this page shows up is that there is still lots of inconsistency in the naming of articles. Deb 18:14 Mar 24, 2003 (UTC)

Surely it is wrong to call mistresses members of the French Royal families. 'Intimate associates' of, and Members of, French Royal Families might be more correct. STÓD/ÉÍRE

Hmm... mistresses surely weren't members of the French royal families. I might move mistresses to a separate page, and then try to fill this page out so that it includes all royal consorts and all children grandchildren of France... john 22:06 25 May 2003 (UTC)

Capitalization

Shouldn't the title be Members of the French royal families instead of all cap? Menchi

Possibly... Or should it be List of... something, like other lists here? How about List of French royal people? :) -- Oliver P. 12:31 26 May 2003 (UTC)
How about even more concise: List of French royalty? --Menchi 12:41 26 May 2003 (UTC)

I disagree. Royalty is too broad a term. French Royal Families is perfectly accurate because that is exactly what the article is about. As to capitalisation, Royal Family should be written with capitals. It seems better to use the same guidance here . 'royal families' looks odd. In academic British English, capitalisation would be standard.

Hello. This is all very nice information. But isn't it sort of the opposite of what you were doing with the Dukes of Devonshire yesterday? Wouldn't it be better to append the members of each monarch's family to the article on that monarch? The page seems a bit unwieldy as it is. Just a thought... -- Oliver P. 12:31 26 May 2003 (UTC)

Well, it's always nice to have a central collection for the ease of browsing. --Menchi 12:41 26 May 2003 (UTC)
The Dukes of Devonshire page still has links to all the Dukes... I mean, perhaps you're right. Basically, I saw this page, which was lame, and wanted to make it more systematic. Unfortunately, there's a lot of individuals involved... I was also thinking that it might make more sense to move the stuff to each monarch's page, but I dunno. What do others think? john 19:01 26 May 2003 (UTC)

This is very nice, but is it me or it only includes the kings? Muriel Gottrop 11:11, 29 Oct 2003 (UTC)

The idea was only to list children and, for later kings, (male-line) grandchildren of actual ruling Kings of France. It took quite a while for me just to do that, all those months ago, but feel free to add more (for instance, the families of the various Orleanist claimants) if you'd like. john 23:51, 29 Oct 2003 (UTC)
Good morning John! Have a look on Kings of France family tree! It gave a lot of work, but i think it looks really nice... What do you think? Cheers, Muriel Gottrop
