Talk:Benjamin Anker

Anything else about that guy? Books (on whisky or politics or whatever)? The one link I found: http://www.christenunie.nl/main.php?tekstld=75 -- KF 24 Sept 2002

I don't think he wrote poems about the European Union. By the way, the whole list of political scientists, headed by Anker, is a shame. --KF 00:18 Feb 9, 2003 (UTC)

News from our friend can be found here (http://www.frieschdagblad.nl/artikel.asp?artID=9629). --KF 11:01 Feb 9, 2003 (UTC)
I get "about 51" matches, using Google. The one KF gives is the top one, and says: "Mr drs Benjamin Anker is medewerker van het Wetenschappelijk Instituut van de ChristenUnie". Erm, can anyone translate...? -- Oliver P. 11:03 Feb 9, 2003 (UTC)
See ChristenUnie, one of the many parties in the Netherlands. Anker obviously works for ("medewerker") that party's scientific/academic institute/department. --KF 11:11 Feb 9, 2003 (UTC)

Aha, thanks. Incidentally, the IP address from which the Benjamin Anker article was created was 212.45.38.23 (http://www.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=Special:Contributions&target=212.45.38.23&days=300&limit=50), and it seems that only three articles have been edited from this address. Apart from the Anker one and political scientists, the other change made was to add Marco Boers (who has no article) to the mass media article, as one of the "greatest men of communication". This Boers chap only gets "about 35" matches with Google, so I think the editor might be fibbing! I've removed the "Boers" reference. -- Oliver P. 11:16 Feb 9, 2003 (UTC)

according to [1] (http://www.emerce.nl/archives/nieuws/Media_Marketing/13140.html), Marco Boers is a spokesperson for CristenUnie. The contributer is obviously a fan of that party. -(

I removed him from political scientists, since he apparently hasn't made any widely noted contributions to political science. But the article as it stands seems to be factual, so I guess there's no need to delete it. -( 11:45 Feb 9, 2003 (UTC)

Sounds reasonable to me. I bet there'll be some who want it deleted, though... -- Oliver P. 12:07 Feb 9, 2003 (UTC)

Not me. I think you've done a good job. On the other hand, this article goes to show how easy it is/would be for someone who enjoys that sort of thing to freely invent a person and write a biography of them. Sometimes I wonder if such articles already exist somewhere in Wikipedia. --KF 14:05 Feb 9, 2003 (UTC)
