Talk:Academy for Gifted Children

From Wikipedia:Votes for deletion; (decision was to keep):
  • bizarre rant. Morwen 19:02, 12 Nov 2003 (UTC)
    • It is now no longer a bizarre rant, but now is just indistinguishable from any of the other thousands of high schools people could write articles about. Morwen 19:07, 12 Nov 2003 (UTC)
    • And no longer worth its own article! I thought Canada was a big place. How would one even find this school on this marginal information. Move; but to where? Canada? - Marshman 02:57, 13 Nov 2003 (UTC)
    • Keep. The top-ranked school in the province and region [1] (http://www.nationalpost.com/features/reportcard/gta_top20.html) appears to merit an entry and it's easy to find now it links to the site for the school. JamesDay 19:39, 13 Nov 2003 (UTC)
    • Delete. Very POV title given new content. Daniel Quinlan 08:19, Nov 17, 2003 (UTC)
    • Keep. Same for any of the other thousands of high schools people could write articles about. :) -- Oliver P. 08:41, 17 Nov 2003 (UTC)

"Delete. Very POV title given new content. Daniel Quinlan 08:19, Nov 17, 2003 (UTC)" HA! It's a POV title, simply because it's the name of the public institution. It's not our fault, Danny. - user:zanimum

I was discussing this with User:Yelyos, and I realized I don't really remember much about PACE...but it was somewhat different than described here. When I was involved in it (1989-1991), there was no separate school for it, it was just one class of students from all sorts of different schools who went to a different school (St. Anthony in Thornhill) for a couple of days each week. I suppose there may have been a slightly different program for the Catholic schools (in the York Region school board, in my case), or maybe it just hadn't been set up fully yet, if this was established in 1993. You're from PACE? Well, when I started, there were a few classes merged into one, but I'm not sure I completely understand what you're saying about PACE from 89-91. I've contributed to this article what I recall, but I didn't attend the school in the time period you're referring to. There's really not much information out there about PACE; even there own website doesn't seem to mention much of its history. If you do remember something about it, then please feel free to add it in! I'm not sure if it used to be part of a catholic school, but there is a church next to the main building (owned by the school), so it's entirely possible. -Frazzydee| 17:56, 24 Jan 2005 (UTC)
I'm not sure I should add anything from memory...anything I can remember is just anecdotal, I don't know anything about how it was run officially or that sort of thing. Adam Bishop 01:02, 25 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Ah. If you have reasonable confidence in your anecdotal evidence, then feel free to add it in, the information doesn't seem to be available elsewhere. -Frazzydee| 01:47, 25 Jan 2005 (UTC)
