Taitung County (台東縣, pinyin: Tidōng Xin) is a county in Eastern Taiwan, administered as part of Taiwan Province in the Republic of China.
The name comes from the Wade-Giles romanization T`ai-tung, which means "Eastern Taiwan".
It administers two islands formerly used as prisons currently suffering from environmental damages: Green Island and Orchid Island.
