Taang! Records is a record label based in San Diego, California which was established in 1981. The label mainly releases records by punk, ska and hardcore bands. Originally founded in Boston, Massachusetts, Taang! eventually ran a storefront in Harvard Square in Cambridge, Massachusetts, which was itself known at the time for the collection of punk rockers who essentially lived there. For a short time, the store's pricing and location made it a punk landmark and helped to revitalize the underground music scene in Boston in the late 1980s and early 1990s. With little fanfare or advance notice, the entire Taang! operation moved to California in the early 1990s. The label still sells many of its original Boston hardcore albums, in addition to its later California additions.
