Sunset Beach is a town located in Brunswick County, North Carolina. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,824.
Geography
Sunset Beach is located at 33°53'7" North, 78°30'27" West (33.885348, -78.507528)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 14.9 km² (5.8 mi²). 13.1 km² (5.1 mi²) of it is land and 1.8 km² (0.7 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 12.31% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 1,824 people, 909 households, and 678 families residing in the town. The population density is 139.5/km² (360.9/mi²). There are 2,983 housing units at an average density of 228.1/km² (590.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 97.37% White, 0.49% African American, 0.38% Native American, 0.38% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.27% from other races, and 1.10% from two or more races. 1.37% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 909 households out of which 7.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.0% are married couples living together, 3.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.4% are non-families. 21.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.01 and the average family size is 2.28.
