Sugarloaf Township is a township located in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 3,652.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 56.8 km² (21.9 mi²). 56.7 km² (21.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.09% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 3,652 people, 1,222 households, and 944 families residing in the township. The population density is 64.4/km² (166.6/mi²). There are 1,302 housing units at an average density of 22.9/km² (59.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 98.03% White, 0.27% African American, 0.11% Native American, 1.01% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.22% from other races, and 0.36% from two or more races. 0.71% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
