Strayer University

Strayer University (formerly called Strayer College) is an educational institution with locations in Washington, D.C. and several of its suburbs in Virginia, as well as other locations in Baltimore, Maryland, Richmond and Hampton, Virginia, Charlotte and Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, and Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee. Unlike the vast majority of colleges and universities, Strayer is a proprietary, for-profit institution. It is a non-residential institution; none of its campuses have dormatories or other housing and students communte from off-campus. The institution has traditionally marketed itself to the "adult student", generally defined as a person over the age of 24 and employed full-time in addition to their pursuit of collegiate studies. Largely due to this fact, the institution does not sponsor intercollegiate athletics or many other extracirricular activites frequently associated with U.S. higher education.
