Steve Tesich

Steve Stojan Tesich is an Oscar-winning screenwriter and playwright who was born in Uzice, Yugoslavia (now Serbia and Montenegro) on September 29, 1942.
His family came to the USA when Steve was 14 years old and settled in East Chicago, Indiana. Tesich graduated from Indiana University in 1965. He also did graduate work at Columbia University where he wrote plays. His pessimistic nature was often reflected in his plays. On July 1, 1996, while in Sydney, Nova Scotia Canada, Steve Tesich died of a heart attack.
