Steinkjer is a municipality and city in the county of Nord-Trøndelag, Norway, located at the top of the Trondheimsfjord, in the Beitstadfjord fjord inlet. Steinkjer is connected to the ocean through the narrow straight of Skarnsundet. One of the largest suspension bridges, Skarnsundsbrua, crosses it.

The municipality's scenery is rich, beautiful and varied, stretching from the fjord to the mountains.
