Stamford is a village located in Delaware County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 1,265.
The Village of Stamford is located partly in the Town of Stamford and partly in the Town of Harpersfield. The village is on Route 23. The village has termed itself the "Saratoga of the Catskills."

History
The area was visited by farmers and trappers in the 18th Century. By the early part of the 20th Century Stamford reached its peak as a tourist area. The village was incorporated in 1870.

Stamford is located at 42°24'41" North, 74°37'8" West (42.411592, -74.618939)Template:GR.
The village is in the Catskill Mountains.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 3.4 km² (1.3 mi²). None of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 1,265 people, 496 households, and 290 families residing in the village. The population density is 367.2/km² (954.3/mi²). There are 621 housing units at an average density of 180.3/km² (468.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 97.55% White, 0.40% Black or African American, 0.08% Native American, 0.63% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.40% from other races, and 0.95% from two or more races. 3.64% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 496 households out of which 28.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.6% are married couples living together, 10.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 41.5% are non-families. 34.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.28 and the average family size is 2.99.
In the village the population is spread out with 22.2% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 21.1% from 25 to 44, 24.0% from 45 to 64, and 26.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 45 years. For every 100 females there are 88.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 83.9 males.
The median income for a household in the village is $30,664, and the median income for a family is $38,864. Males have a median income of $27,500 versus $21,607 for females. The per capita income for the village is $18,012. 15.2% of the population and 9.4% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 22.8% of those under the age of 18 and 13.6% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
