Stacie Orrico

Stacie Joy Orrico (born March 3, 1986 in Seattle, Washington) is a female American singer who was discovered at a Christian talent contest when she was in her early teens.
Since then, she has released two albums, "Genuine" in 2000 when she was 14 years of age, and the more mainstream and self-titled "Stacie Orrico" in 2003, which charted in the US Billboard Top 200, Australian ARIAnet and the United Kingdom albums charts. The first single from this album was "Stuck", and went top 3 in Australia and top 10 in the UK singles charts. This was followed by the single "(There's Gotta Be) More To Life", which also charted and went top 20 in Australia and the UK. This was then followed by "I Promise" (top 30 in the UK), and the latest single "I Could Be The One" (top 40 in the UK on June 2004).
Several conservative Christians have criticized Stacie in recent years for being secular, and dressing like Britney Spears. However, others feel that such claims are exaggerated. In fact, Orrico made headlines in February 2004 for publicly criticizing Spears and Christina Aguilera for being poor role models for young girls because of the way they dressed, which she called "degrading" (see article (http://www.almenconi.com/news/feb04/022304.html/)).
