St. Pete Beach is a city located in Pinellas County, Florida. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 9,929.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 51.5 km² (19.9 mi²). 5.8 km² (2.2 mi²) of it is land and 45.7 km² (17.6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 88.68% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 9,929 people, 5,294 households, and 2,726 families residing in the city. The population density is 1,703.8/km² (4,417.8/mi²). There are 7,817 housing units at an average density of 1,341.4/km² (3,478.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 97.61% White, 0.66% African American, 0.22% Native American, 0.55% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.34% from other races, and 0.57% from two or more races. 2.51% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 5,294 households out of which 10.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.2% are married couples living together, 5.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 48.5% are non-families. 40.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 18.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 1.82 and the average family size is 2.40.
In the city the population is spread out with 9.7% under the age of 18, 3.3% from 18 to 24, 22.6% from 25 to 44, 31.3% from 45 to 64, and 33.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 54 years. For every 100 females there are 99.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 97.9 males.
The median income for a household in the city is $47,574, and the median income for a family is $61,434. Males have a median income of $40,938 versus $30,532 for females. The per capita income for the city is $35,514. 7.4% of the population and 3.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 9.5% of those under the age of 18 and 4.6% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
