Dos mujeres, un camino
|
Dos mujeres, un camino is a 1994 mexican telenovela produced by Televisa. It was one of that network's most seen soap operas ever.
Dos mujeres, un camino ("Two Women, One Road") is the story of a Mexican truck driver, Johnny, with a family who falls in love for a woman he meets on the road and the complications as a consequence of his new love. Dos Mujeres... used the then new NAFTA treaty as a backdrop to the story; Johnny transported merchandise from Mexico to the United States.
The show was a comeback for former CHiPs star Erik Estrada, who played Johnny. He earned a million dollars and returned to the spotlight, albeit a diminished one.
Johnny had enemies in Tijuana, where he was blamed for the death of a young man by the Montegarza family. Johnny is still very in love with his wife at the same time as he falls for his friend. To complicate things, his new girlfriend, Tanya, does not know about his marriage, and a policeman who is in love with Tanya, Reymundo, is in hot pursuit alongside his partner Angel, of the head of the family that blames Johnny for the young man's death.
It is later discovered that Johnny did not cause the young man's death, and while he was struggling to decide whether he wants to stay with his wife or with Tanya. Tanya dies, taking a bullet that would have killed Johnny. Johnny is forgiven by his enemies, the Montegarza family, some of whom move on and settle in Italy.
Actor Roberto Palazuelos, who played Reymundo, was substituted by Sergio Sendei when he failed to attend a recording because of going to a Michael Jackson concert in Mexico City.
