South Bristol is a town located in Ontario County, New York, USA. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,645.

History
The Town of South Bristol was established in 1838 from the Town of Bristol.
Geography
The east town line, marked by Canandaigua Lake, is the border of Yates County, New York.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 108.9 km² (42.0 mi²). 101.2 km² (39.1 mi²) of it is land and 7.8 km² (3.0 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 7.13% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 1,645 people, 670 households, and 469 families residing in the town. The population density is 16.3/km² (42.1/mi²). There are 1,145 housing units at an average density of 11.3/km² (29.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.05% White, 0.18% African American, 0.18% Native American, 0.61% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.30% from other races, and 0.67% from two or more races. 0.85% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 670 households out of which 28.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.2% are married couples living together, 4.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.0% are non-families. 22.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.44 and the average family size is 2.85.
In the town the population is spread out with 22.0% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 27.4% from 25 to 44, 31.8% from 45 to 64, and 12.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 105.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 101.4 males.
The median income for a household in the town is $52,313, and the median income for a family is $56,346. Males have a median income of $40,909 versus $29,853 for females. The per capita income for the town is $26,590. 7.9% of the population and 4.7% of families are below the poverty line.
