Socialist Party of Chile
|
The Socialist Party of Chile (Spanish: Partido Socialista de Chile, PSC) is a political party in Chile, and part of the ruling Coalition of Parties for Democracy coalition. It has 10 deputies and 5 senators. The party is currently led by Ricardo Núñez.
It was the party of former President Salvador Allende, who was among its founders in 1933.
After the Chilean coup of 1973 it was proscribed (along with the other leftist parties constituting the Popular Unity coalition,) and fractioned itself in several groups that would not reunite until after the return to civilian rule in 1990.
