Skidway Lake is an unincorporated community located in Ogemaw County, Michigan. It is a Census-designated place (CDP) used for statistical purposes. As of the 2000 census, the community had a total population of 3,147.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the community has a total area of 30.2 km² (11.7 mi²). 29.3 km² (11.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.9 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 2.91% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 3,147 people, 1,326 households, and 883 families residing in the community. The population density is 107.2/km² (277.8/mi²). There are 2,562 housing units at an average density of 87.3/km² (226.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the community is 95.68% White, 0.35% African American, 1.68% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.03% from other races, and 2.26% from two or more races. 1.43% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,326 households out of which 25.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.0% are married couples living together, 11.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.4% are non-families. 27.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.37 and the average family size is 2.84.
In the community the population is spread out with 22.6% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 24.4% from 25 to 44, 26.6% from 45 to 64, and 19.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 100.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 97.3 males.
