Six Flags La Ronde
|
Six Flags La Ronde is the largest amusement park in Quebec.
It is located on Île Sainte-Hélène in Montreal, Canada, and hosts Le Mondial SAQ, the most important international fireworks competition, held every year during the summer.
It was opened in 1967 as a part of Expo 67 and now features 37 rides, including 7 roller coasters, among which is Le Monstre, a 40-metre high wooden double-coaster, and many different shows.
The park opens from mid-May to late October, with an activity peak in July. As of summer 2005, entrance costs $34.99 for those 12 years of age and over ($27.99 for only panoramic rides) and $22.99 for children 3-12. Family rides require a height of 36 inches, most intermediate rides are 44 inches and high-thrill ones 52 or 54.
La Ronde was owned and administered by the City of Montreal until it was sold to Six Flags, a theme park chain, in 2001. This is their only amusement park in Canada.
