Sisters is a city located in Deschutes County, Oregon. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 959. By 2005 the population had grown to about 1500 with growth predicted to 4700 by 2020.

Geography
Sisters is located at 44°17'27" North, 121°32'56" West (44.290828, -121.549024)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.8 km² (1.5 mi²). 1.25 miles of Squaw Creek run thru the southern half of town. The main highway through downtown, with a lot of pedestrian traffic, is known for its many specialty stores and galleries.

Recreation
Sisters is surrounded by the Sisters District (http://www.hoodoo.com/deschutes_Nat'l_District.htm) of the Deschutes National Forest (http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/centraloregon/). Hiking, biking and horse riding trails go from the city limits into the Three Sisters Wilderness (http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/willamette/recreation/tripplanning/wilderness/threesisters.html).
Hoodoo Ski Area (http://www.hoodoo.com/) is 20 miles west of town.
Golf courses include Black Butte Ranch (http://www.blackbutteranch.com/) and Aspen Lakes (http://www.aspenlakes.com/).
Schools
The Sisters area is served by Sisters School District #6 (http://www.outlawnet.com/outlaw/ssd/), one of the most successful and highly acclaimed school districts of its size in the state of Oregon. The district is responsible for the education of approximately 1,300 students at four facilities.

History
The Army established Camp Polk in 18??. After discovering that there was no Indian problem they left. The Hindman family settled at Camp Polk in 18??.

Media
The local newspaper is the Nugget News (http://www.nuggetnews.com/) published weekly on Wednesdays. It is free and available at most businesses in town.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 959 people, 397 households, and 262 families residing in the city. The population density is 255.4/km² (663.0/mi²). There are 482 housing units at an average density of 128.3/km² (333.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 95.83% White, 0.00% African American, 1.56% Native American, 0.42% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.36% from other races, and 0.83% from two or more races. 4.59% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 397 households out of which 33.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.6% are married couples living together, 11.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.8% are non-families. 25.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.41 and the average family size is 2.88.
In the city the population is spread out with 26.1% under the age of 18, 9.0% from 18 to 24, 26.1% from 25 to 44, 25.0% from 45 to 64, and 13.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 98.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 103.7 males.
The median income for a household in the city is $35,000, and the median income for a family is $43,977. Males have a median income of $35,563 versus $21,771 for females. The per capita income for the city is $17,847. 10.4% of the population and 7.4% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 2.3% of those under the age of 18 and 10.7% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
